How we're funded
We are funded by commission from some retailer links. Here is how that works, and the walls we keep between money and scores.

At a glance
- Some retailer links pay us a commission
- You pay the same price either way
- Commission never changes a score or a rank
- No paid placements, no sponsored reports
Commission links
When you click a “Check price” button and buy, the retailer may pay us a percentage of the sale. These links are tagged as sponsored in our page code. Not every link earns money, and many products we score pay us nothing.
The walls
- Criteria and weights are set before any product is scored.
- Analysts do not see commission rates when they score.
- Ranks follow Index scores. We never move a product up a list for commercial reasons.
- Brands cannot pay for coverage, preview a report or ask for a score to be changed.
Advertising our reports
We sometimes pay for search or social ads that point to our own reports. That is spending on reaching readers. It does not involve any brand and has no link to scores.
